Here you should have a look:
Mineral Museum Teis
Among other geological treasures, the museum also exhibits the famous Teiser spheres: crystals up to 20 cm in diameter, surrounded by other rocks. Inside the so-called geodes there can be precious stones such as agates and amethysts – amazing objects that are certainly not common.
Puez-Geisler Nature Park House
Knowledge comes to mind: In St. Magdalena, you have a first-class source of information about the Natural Park with the Puez-Geisler Nature Park House. Animal world, geology, cultural aspects of the region are presented in several exhibitions very vividly and family-friendly – actually a must for every visitor of the Nature Park!
Adventure Park Villnöss
In the midst of a mountain forest at the bottom of the Geisler peaks you can test your abilities on balance beams, long cableways, hanging bridges and other exciting climbing parties. The total of 100 stations cover all levels of difficulty, so you can have fun with your children.
Ansitz Ranuihof
At the end of the valley in front of the Geisler peaks lies the former hunting lodge of the merchants of Jenner from Klausen. The façade of the 17th century with hunting scenes is an eye-catcher of the picturesque masonry.
Klausen
At the entrance of the Villnöss valley lies the charming medieval town of Klausen, which is always worth a visit. Its parish church of St. Andrew and the nearby monastery of Säben are among the cultural and art history highlights in the Eisack valley.
Highlights Villnösser Hospitality:
Speck festival
At the beginning of October in St. Magdalena everything revolves around the hearty South Tyrolean specialty. Our speck is air dried and only slightly smoked, which gives it its inimitable flavor. For several days you will have the opportunity to delight your palate at the Speck Festival with all types of dishes, where of course speck is an important ingredient, but you can attend also the election of the Speck queen and, of course, purchase hearty regional products for your own consumption.
Farm festival in Teis
Also in October, traditional South Tyrolean craftsmanship and peasant traditions are celebrated in Teis. They experience how our peasants, in ancient times, threshed or wheed corn, wove wool and baskets. You can then buy them as souvenirs at the local farmers’ market. The popular music and tasty treats await to be enjoyed.
“The mountain cooks”
Under this motto ten inn keepers along the taste path, called Villnösser Almengenussweg, offer their food every year in spring and invite hikers to a culinary pilgrimage with Eisack valley specialties.
Driving down of cattles from the mountain pastures in St. Magdalena
When the cattle are brought back from the pastures at the end of September, we celebrate this with a big farmers market, live music of our Villnöss chapels and a great fun which also offers an incomparable experience for holidaymakers.
